I Want to Marry Ryan Banks
Did anyone watch this when it was on ABC Family years ago? It’s a cute chick flick about a Bachelor-type show where A-List-celebrity-turned-tabloid-cover Ryan Banks (Jason Priestley) decides to have a America pick his wife on reality TV in order to get back into its good graces. All is going according to plan until America’s favorite candidate (Emma Caulfield) falls for Banks’ best friend/manager (Bradley Cooper) behind the scenes.
Funny things in retrospect:
1. Who knew Bradley Cooper was going to become a big star? He got second billing to Jason Priestley, guys.
2. Erin Karpluk of Being Erica plays Bradley Cooper’s adorable assistant.
3. Narim from Stargate plays Bradley’s boss. Also, the less-cool chick from Mutant X plays Emma’s roommate. But these circumstances are probably due to filming in Vancouver.
I also recommend the old ABC Family movie Lucky 7 starring Kimberly Williams and a pre-Grey’s Patrick Dempsey, which is about a girl who plans out her life with her dying mother and promises to marry her seventh boyfriend, only to find out she’s falling hard for her soon-to-be-sixth and needs someone to take his numerical place stat.
I LOVE this movie. 1. because bradley cooper isn’t a douche in it, as he is often type-casted now. 2. the main girl is from BOSTON. what up. such a good good movie.
Fox/ABC Family used to have legit movies, similar to how prior to High School Musical, Disney Channel actually made stellar movies on a consistent basis. I didn’t even think Lucky 7 was that great. Remember the Au Pair trilogy? (Sidebar: the ‘au pair’ was played by the same woman who portrayed Jenny in California Dreams (another instant classic that I have recently started re-watching, but unfortunately not all of the episodes are available on DVD) she was written off CD after 13 episodes but made an epic return as the ultimate American nanny) Now that was a good made for television-movie series.
P.S. I’m obsessed with television?
a weird phenomenon: i was at a beach town’s generic grocery store last night and i observed something that made sense, but was still strange. every single person in there was alone, and all the registers were for 14 items and under. everyone, including myself, was in there buying dinner ingrediants for one person. i felt like we should all go out and grab a pizza together since we were all about to eat dinner alone. but then i remembered that i enjoy the solitude so i went through the register and left as quickly as possible.
You should watch Louis CK’s new show Louie tonight on FX at 11.
Here’s a clip of him on the Tonight Show that is also worth your time.
i think he is beyond hilarious. so so funny. and i’m so excited for the premiere tonight, it’s supposed to be great!
Cool movie.
Also, Desmond Harrington.
Just saw this yesterday! It had an intriguing premise, I enjoyed it.
just watched it myself! very good!

June 17-20, 2010
one of the best weekends ever.
I agree with everything this gentleman has to say.
this is amazing.
so glad mimi could be here this weekend. here are some instant classic photos.
I graduated from Northwestern University today. Bizarre. Never felt like I was smart enough to be here, but I probably was. Tomorrow they read my name as a Radio/Television/Film major. That will be even more weird. I love this weekend.
